Election Workers Needed!

Election Workers Needed

The City of Westbrook is looking for community members to come help us during the 2024 election year! Each election, the City recruits community members like YOU to help facilitate a smooth elections process for our voters.  For more information, view some of the highlights below and contact Ellis Ledoux, Deputy City Clerk (Elections Administrator) at 207-591-8132.

What experience do I need?

None! The City Clerk's office will train you on all the duties of being an election official. Staff are required to attend a training prior to each election.

How old do I have to be?

Elections staff need to be registered Maine voters, which means our workers need to be at least 16 years old,  and eligible to be a registered voter in the State of Maine.

What is the commitment?

We offer a total of 4 different election days shifts that staff can choose from (or a combination!), in addition to the required training date. If you'd like to help beyond election day itself - there are other election duties in which the community helps with, and Ellis can discuss scheduling with you.

Is this a paid position?

It can be! The City of Westbrook does offer compensation to our elections staff for hours (including training) worked. The current pay is minimum wage (as of  November 2023, that is $13.80/hr.) Folks may choose to get compensated for their time, or simply volunteer.

I'm a student in the community and want to help, can I?

Yes! We are always looking for ways to involve our school community in elections. Each election, we typically have a group from the high school join us for part of the day. Students interested in learning more about helping should reach out to Ellis Ledoux, Deputy City Clerk  at 207-591-8132, directly for more information.

Where do I sign up?
