Welcome to your Affiliated EAP

What is the EAP program?

The Employee Assistance Program is a free, confidential assessment, short term counseling, and referral service for employees and their household members. This program is designed to assist in dealing with problems that affect you at home and at work.

What can EAP help with?

Although Affiliated EAP will help you through a crisis, it is primarily designed to help you manage the life changes we all experience in areas such as:

  • Family or marital relationships
  • Death in the family
  • Alcohol or drug problems
  • Emotional or psychological adjustment
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Parenting
  • Anxiety
  • Retirement
  • Legal or financial problems
  • Work Stressors

Affiliated EAP counselors are trained to deal with a wide variety of problems. They will offer you professional support and direction toward resolving the problem.

Will the counselor keep my problem confidential?

Yes. Absolutely. Confidentiality is a requirement and a guarantee Affiliated EAP makes to all employees. No information goes anywhere outside of EAP without the employee's permission unless required by law. Counselors are specially trained in EAP work. They handle delicate issues, and they have the knowledge and skills to assist you toward solving your problems.

What is the EAP coverage?

EAP makes available a limited number of counseling sessions, depending on what is the most appropriate to help address your concern(s). This special benefit may be used by the employee and household members. Sometimes help beyond EAP is requires; in those cases, we can help you access the best resources available for problem resolution.

The City believes it is in the interest of employees, employees’ families, and the City to offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to help employees deal with personal problems under strict confidentiality.

We believe that the personal lives of employees are their own affair.  However, when personal problems of an employee seriously affect job performance, sound business practice and an obligation rooted in personal concern for employees require that the problems be resolved.  The basic purpose of our EAP is to offer employees assistance in such a way as to restore individual productivity and enable employees to lead meaningful lives.

Employees and their dependents who have problems that they feel may adversely affect job performance or personal well-being are encouraged to voluntarily seek confidential assistance in the EAP.  Employees are assured that their jobs or promotional opportunities will not be jeopardized by utilizing the EAP, and that all contact and records will be confidential.

Keep in mind:

  • Everyone has personal difficulties and problems from time to time. Affiliated EAP believes it is in the best interest of the employee, the employee's family, and the organization to provide early intervention to help with problems.
  • Most employees are capable of resolving almost any problem, provided the problem is identified in its early stages and referral is made to appropriate assistance.
  • Using EAP does not affect job status or promotional opportunities.
  • Affiliated EAP is part of a comprehensive support, wellness and accident program.  And a free benefit to employees!
