Mission Statement

This Commission's focus is on recreation and open space issues within the city, with the goal of balancing the interests of residents, landowners, businesses, and developers while preserving Westbrook's character and history for its current and future residents.

Peter Burke

Ward Represented: Ward 1

Been on committee since 2009

What do you like most about being on the committee? The Recreation and Conservation Commission is a great group to be involved in because it gets to promote, educate and strengthen the incredible recreational and outdoor amenities of Westbrook.

Favorite place in Westbrook? The Black Bridge

 

Nate Dyer

Ward Represented: Ward 2

Been on committee since 2010

What do you like most about being on the committee? Making the public lands and water more accessible and viable. 

Favorite place in Westbrook? The Community Garden

 

Gene McKeen

Ward Represented: Ward 4

Been on committee since 2012

What do you like most about being on the committee? I find satisfying to work with my neighbors to help create and grow our community and to share the many wonderful open spaces our city has to offer.

Favorite place in Westbrook? I think my favorite place in Westbrook is really anywhere near the rivers. It's an amazing thing to have so many natural open spaces to enjoy!

What do you like most about being on the committee? Recently moved to Maine and is excited to learn more about Westbrook and the surrounding area so that she can be of service to the community.
