Have you received one of the Wastewater Division's flushing notices? When reading it, it can be a little alarming. However, this flushing is a necessary preventative maintenance that makes sure the sewer lines are clean and clear from debris so property owners aren't affected by backups. During the sewer cleaning process, it is possible for air pressure to be created inside the sewer pipe. Most of the time, the pressurized air escapes with no impact. Sometimes the air can only escape through the service connection between your house and sewer system and will expel through internal plumbing vents without incident. So whenever you receive our flushing notice and see the Wastewater Division outside on your street, know that we are working towards making sure you are never affected by backups in your neighborhood.
